Pardon Me While I Get Un-Stuck

Being part of society has been rough lately, guys. Especially when you're an American, which these days seems downright shameful. Particularly when you write a tongue-in-cheek blog about consumerism, which always seemed silly, but in a fun, self-aware way, but now just seems fucking stupid. How can I write about expensive eyeshadow and shower squids when I'm worrying about the world I know crumbling to dust? And it's not just blogging, there are other projects I'm working on that are stalled as well. I just end up staring at my laptop thinking, "I need to get to work." and then... nothing. I'm stuck.

Apocalypse Day 1: Taking every possible precaution.

I thought of taking a little break from writing a tongue-in-cheek blog about consumerism, but I'm not sure that's the best idea. I've been relying heavily on my own Bloglovin' feed of completely apolitical blogs to entertain and distract me in the past few weeks, and I'm incredibly grateful they exist. I'm not going to write as though current events don't exist, but I am going to keep writing about lipstick, because sometimes when you're feeling like shit, a little lipstick can perk you up. I mean that metaphorically and literally. That's why this blog started and that's how it's going to keep going.

That being said, I might need to take a little time to come up with some ideas, because right now my idea of what you "Need" is, uh, to get out of bed in the morning? Keep living? Move forward? And we're striving for a little more positivity (and a little more cheeky materialism!) over here. So, let me whip myself back into shape, and I'll be back to my old hyperbolic, kvelling self soon.

Until then, this is what you need: To take positive action. For me that means a shit ton of self care and only reading the news once a day. Also, a membership to the ACLU costs $35 (or there's a space to donate any amount. Like $2. ANY amount).
