Wear, Watch, Want #78: The Warm Textured Bananas Edition

Wear: Sunbeam Velvet Plush Heated Throw

It’s getting chillier here in Seattle, and soon it will be downright cold. I have an autoimmune disease that makes it very difficult to maintain my body temperature, and often when it’s cold, I’m freezing. This is where something like this heated throw come in very handy. I plug it in next to my couch, and I can watch TV without my teeth chattering, or sending my heating bill into the stratosphere. Added bonus, when I have this throw blanket on my lap, Hero is very into snuggling up and being just as cozy and warm as I am.

Watch: Maniac

For all the advertising I saw for Maniac, I had no idea what it was about. I knew that Emma Stone and Jonah Hill would be part of a drug trial - that’s it. I’m not going to say that this made the show more enjoyable, because I generally don’t feel that way about “spoilers,” but it did add some surprise to the experience. I had no idea that while in their drug-induced state, something goes wrong and leads to both Hill and Stone having (sometimes shared) hallucinations where they are different characters. The different hallucinated scenarios are different and fun, but also help explain the backstories of the characters. There are also the scientists running the test, and a fabulous turn by Sally Field as a Frasier Crane/Dr. Marcia Fieldstone type.

If you like a show that will make you cry while also making you laugh, so that you’re in a cycle of crying/laughter until the credits roll on the final episode, then Maniac is your next Netflix pick.

Want: Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray

Until a few weeks ago, I had never tried Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray. I had seen so many rave reviews that convinced me it was a life changing hair product, but I knew it was financially unattainable and I didn’t want to get attached. Then I got a haircut, my stylist used this spray on my hair, and I was like, “Oh crap. This is truly incredible.” What exactly IS dry texturizing spray? I don’t truly know. I can only explain the name of it a little: You put this on your dry hair and it just sort of roughs it up and gives it that second or third day hair look without the greaseball factor that plages hair like mine. I would LOVE to be able to curl my hair on day one and by day three have it be a tously, cool look. This spray achieves that, but from the first day of your style. It also costs $46. I will NOT spend that much, but as we have learned, if Costco offers me even a small deal, I’M IN.
