How To Make the Most of Your AirPods

I mentioned in Wear, Watch, Want #58 that I was planning on buying AirPods when I upgraded my phone. I did buy an iPhone 8 last week, and I scooped up some AirPods at the same time. It took less than 24 hours for me to be head over heels in love with my AirPods and now I can't imagine how I was even living without them. See, I was a little apprehensive about purchasing them (I have never owned headphones that cost more than $20) so I ended up on an Apple Reddit thread because if someone had the answers I was looking for, it was someone who hangs out on Reddit (This is true for all things). All the Reddit dweebs (with love, with love) said that anyone wondering if they should buy AirPods should just BUY them because they will instantly become obsessed with them and BY GOD THEY WERE RIGHT.

Here's my advice about AirPods though, buy some accessories to really maximize their potential. My main concern was that the earbuds wouldn't be comfortable and wouldn't stay in my ears. I found out about these little silicone sleeves called Earbuddyz that easily slip on AirPods and help hold them in your ears. They also make them much more comfortable, at least for me. The only issue is that you can't keep them on the AirPods all the time, because the AirPods themselves need to fit snugly in the case in order to charge. It's incredibly easy to take the Earbuddyz on and off, but then where do you put them when you're not using them? I'm an obsessive who never loses anything, and these seem like something even I would lose in seconds.

Well Earbuddyz thought of that, and the fact that the AirPods case is prone to scuffs and scratches, and made PodPackz - a case that holds not only your AirPods case, but also has a little hidey-hole for your Earbuddyz. Now everything is in one place and it takes up only slightly more space than the original AirPods case. At less than $15, there's no reason to not grab one of these cases before (or soon after) you purchase AirPods. When you buy PodPackz you get a pair of Earbuddyz as well, which are sold on their own for $10 for two pairs.
