Wear, Watch, Want #73: The Crazy Marble Undershirt Edition

Wear: Hanes Boys Undershirts

This week’s Wear is not something I’ve worn, but something Hero has worn. Hero has been through it this month. He had some issues with his back, and he was given an injection to help him walk and feel better. Then the site got infected, wouldn’t respond to antibiotics alone, and he had to have a drain put in. I’d never dealt with anything like this before, and I naively assumed that he would be completely taken care of at the vet’s and sent home right as rain. HAHAHA. No. He was brought out after his procedure with a noodle through his back. I was then told that this draining process would happen at our home over the next five days. I was told he’d need to wear a tee shirt “to protect the home.” Now my life is filed with extra small boys undershirts that I put on the dog. We’re past the gross stuff, but he’s still in a tee shirt because his surgery site is still a bit… exposed. I’m hoping this will all be over soon. Until then, I have a stack of tiny tee shirts ready to go.

Watch: Crazy Rich Asians

While not nursing a sick pup, I managed to get to the movies to see Crazy Rich Asians. I read the book last year and have been eagerly anticipating the movie ever since. I don’t have anything brilliant to say that hasn’t already been said. The movie is absolutely lovely. A rom com to return to over and over again. If you haven’t read the book, I would tell you that it is significantly more complex than the movie. Gemma Chan’s character Astrid is a big, big part of it, and she has a really interesting plot all her own. This is hinted to in the post-credit scene, and from what I’ve read, her storyline will be covered in the sequel. That’s right - a second Crazy Rich Asians movie is a go! (The second book is called China Rich Girlfriend, but I don’t know if that’s going to be the movie title.) If you can still catch Crazy Rich Asians in a theater near you, I highly recommend it. Not just because all that opulence was meant to be seen on the big screen, but because you’ll be voting with your dollar and telling movie studios that you want MORE movies like this one.

Want: Circular Marble Dining Table

In the kitchen of my house there’s the perfect place for a breakfast nook. I had the nook made, and after three months of waiting it finally arrived and it works perfectly in the space (just like I knew it would). But my existing table doesn’t work with the nook, as it has four legs and it doesn’t really work for sliding into bench seating. I knew I’d need a pedestal table and began looking months ago. I know just the one I want. But when I went to order it, it was out of stock till the middle of October. So, another wait begins!
