The Hunt For the Best MLBB Continues...

One of the best bits of makeup that has ever entered my life is Maybelline's Color Whisper Lipstick in Rose of Attraction. It was discontinued years ago but I'm still talking about it. I have one tube left and it's barely a nubbin, and when I use it I always try to turn it to see if I can get more out, but alas, it is not long for this world. That is why I'm constantly on the hunt for a product like Color Whisper. A light pink that's not too pinky, but not a nude and not a red. The definition of a My Lips But Better shade.

This year I discovered Clinique Pink Honey, which is an excellent contender. I love it and use it often, but if I was going to have to come up with a gripe, it's that it's not as moisturizing as Color Whisper. Color Whisper was like a balm/lipstick hybrid that is shockingly not being replicated by evert cosmetics company under the sun.

I was (and am) very happy with Pink Honey, but I can't give up the chase just yet. Especially not when I found Revlon Kiss Balm, the latest contender for Holy Grail MLBB status.

Kiss Balm is a crayon-like product, but it's more like Clinique Chubby Sticks than Revlon's other balms (i.e. Kiss Balm, Balm Stain, etc, - here's a post about them) which are very pointy. You can raise the crayon up by twisting the top of the tube, which was not intuitive for me, but i figured it out. It's a wash of color as opposed to the more opaque wear of Revlon's other crayon lip products, and that's exactly what I'm looking for. Also, each of these Kiss Balms has SPF 20 and is super moisturizing.

I bought the shade Fresh Strawberry, which is a light pink, but after using it for a few days I found myself at Target again and I bought Sweet Cherry as well. They are only ever so slightly different on me and it's ridiculous that I own both but THIS IS WHO I AM.

I love these balms because you can apply them without a mirror, they make you look like you're alive and not a ghost (a regular issue for me), and they cost less than $5 each. I have three tubes of Baby Lips in Cherry Me - still in their blister packs - in my drawer because they were often sold out, and it is one of my favorite lip products. I feel like Revlon Kiss Balm is the next product that I'm going to stockpile just in case. Color Whisper taught me to be prepared for a sudden discontinuation and I'll never be caught unaware again.
