Wear, Watch, Want #127: The Investigative Dog Bomber Edition

Wear: Lululemon On Repeat Bomber

I have this bomber-style cardigan that I got at Loft oh, a million (realistically, maybe eight?) years ago. It is the best cardigan and I love it and have been searching for one like it for, well, a million years. My mom and I were doing a bit of Black Friday shopping (I will never wait outside a Best Buy at 3am but Black Friday is a GREAT time to stock up on things you love. More on that Tuesday.) and she wanted to pop into Lululemon. I am a loyal Athleta customer but I don’t mind a bit of a browse, and I was meant to be in Lululemon that day because THERE SHE WAS. Who is she? The On Repeat Bomber (I pictured the grey to show more detail but I got black). It’s EXACTLY what I have been hunting for the past almost-decade. But get this - it’s even better than the one I have and love. It hits at the hip, has long-enough sleeves, and has a great textured pattern that gives it just a little bit of extra polish. It was so perfect, I (gulp) paid full price for it. She’s worth it.

Watch: Knives Out

I saw Knives Out this week and it was fabulous. Because I 1) don’t want to spoil anything, and 2) write a ham fisted synopsis, I’m just going to bullet point all the thing I thought of during the screening. No spoilers and honestly, not much information about the movie at all!

  • Rian Johnson came to our attention with his noir mystery Brick, which I keep hearing people mention as a little-known or an underground hit and let me just say, as an “artsy” kid who was a high school senior when Brick came out: WE ALL SAW IT. The true Rian Johnson underground masterpiece is The Brothers Bloom. So few people have seen it and it is GREAT and now I’m planning a rewatch.

  • I would LOVE a prop breakdown for this film. I would like a coffee table book cataloging every single item in the Thrombey estate. I will pay too much money for it, if it comes into existence.

  • Katherine Langford has similar features to me, and I kept wondering if she knows about low bridge fit glasses, because they have changed my life.

  • Don Johnson’s forehead Botox is so distracting, anytime he was on screen it was all I could think about. His forehead is IMMOVABLE. And in the portrait at the end he has forehead wrinkles! LIES!

  • What happened to Toni Colette’s dead husband AND did it become a plot in his father’s books. I kept expecting him to show up, having faked his death, and nope! He’s just dead??

  • There’s a scene where the detectives take Marta out on the patio to ask her some questions and the woman sitting next to me said, “Whew! It’s cold out there!” in an eerily Linda Blecher cadence. She was amazing.

That’s all! Go see Knives Out, I’m already looking forward to re-watching it.

Want: Gooby Dog Vest

Hero is a Boston terrier, and because of that (short hair, no extra fat) he needs to wear a sweater or jacket if we walk in the cold weather. BUT he’s very uncomfortable in clothes, and will sometimes refuse to walk if he decides he just doesn’t want to be warm and, you know, safe. He’s also a relatively enormous Boston, so it’s also a challenge just to FIND something that will fit, let alone that will fit AND he will tolerate. I took advantage of a Black Friday sale and ordered two vests from Gooby, which is a very popular brand among the small-to-medium dog set and also made the first harness Hero would ever tolerate (yeah, he’s a real baby about harnesses too). I ordered the Zip Up Fleece Vest in gray and the Thin Puffer Vest in turquoise. I’m hoping ONE works. I’m just trying to keep my dog warm, it’s not too much to ask (even if Hero thinks it is).

A note about the featured image on this post: The title of Best Chris vacillates between Evans and Pine, depending on who is promoting something, thus being at the forefront of our hearts and minds.
