Wear, Watch, Want #117: The Soft Canadian Peony Edition

Wear: Tommy John Lounge Tank

I needed some pajamas for warmer weather, and I ended up shopping my own stash by grabbing a tank top from Costco. This tank comes in a set of three and is great for layering under say, a sheer-ish top, but as pajamas it was not ideal. For some reason this tank - that doesn’t roll up my body when worn as real clothes - kept rolling up when I wore it as pajamas. I let this go on for… months. Sometimes you’ve gotta wait until you’re super fed up and then you go to Nordstrom and plan to not leave the store until you find a solution. I took maybe eight different tanks into the dressing room, and the Tommy John lounge tank was the clear winner. It is, however, $46. I had a Nordstrom Note and it STILL felt like a lot. BUT, I was fed up and desperate for a solution, and also, I will often be wearing my PJs for 12 hours, so I think I deserve to invest in them. (I now want this tank in four colors to wear as actual clothes, or as I call them, “Day Pajamas.”)

Watch: Jensplaining

Do you follow Jen Gunter on Twitter? If not, stop reading and go slam on that follow button, because she is a GIFT. She writes a great blog where she advocates for reproductive rights and evidence-based well, everything. She has a show on CBC in Canada called Jensplaining, and I watched the whole thing in one sitting. It’s ten episodes, each covering a different health topic, but each episode is around 15 minutes long (I love this new trend, BTW. If you’re making a show for a streaming service, ask yourself how long it really has to be. Be honest). Dr Jen covers all kinds of topics in her show, but she’s a gynecologist, so a lot of it is gyno stuff. I particularly liked when she covered all the period products on offer and whether or not they were safe options. And she showed how much blood is actually in a period (that’s the photo above. Please note that she did not use mysterious blue liquid). Now, listen, I would have liked her to say in the weight episode that being in a larger body doesn’t mean that you aren’t healthy. But she only got 15 minutes! And she didn’t say anything fatphobic, she just didn’t say anything anti-fatphobic, you know?

If you have the means, I highly recommend watching Jensplaining. And follow her on Twitter! And read her blog! Particularly her birth story, which is harrowing. She’s incredible.

Want: Jouer Shine Balm

You know about my obsession with MLBBs. So when I was toodling around Sephora and saw Jouer Essential Lip Enhancer Shine Balm I was immediately interested. The shade Peony looks exactly like my erstwhile fave, Maybelline Color Whisper in Rose of Attraction. I was about to grab a tube of Peony Shine Balm and toss it in my basket, but then I remembered how I JUST showcased my favorite MLBBs and should therefore know that I have PLENTY. But the heart wants what it wants, and my heart wants sheer pink lip balms. You’ll be forever in my heart, Jouer Shine Balm, if not in my handbag.
