These Reusable Eye Masks Are a Total Game Changer

What’s the name for that phenomenon where, once something is a part of your life, you start to notice it everywhere? Like, you break your leg and suddenly, every time you leave the house, you see someone with a broken leg? (I looked it up, it’s Baader-Meinhof phenomenon). That’s me an the Dieux Forever Eye Mask. I got Baader-Meinhoffed.

It started with me thinking, “I wish there was an eye mask that I could use over and over, but not like, an eye pillow, or one of those American Psycho ice masks. I wonder if that exists,” and then 40 seconds later Google led me to Dieux, a company that makes the exact thing I was wishing for.

These eye masks are little undereye-shaped pieces of silicone, that work in tandem with whatever eye cream you want to aid absorption and make sure you’re getting every single benefit from your product. I like to dab on some eye cream (currently I’m using this one which works for me, but if you’re looking to have your whole life changed by an eye cream, this one may disappoint), put on my Dieux masks and leave them for however long (Dieux says 10 minutes but if you leave them on for a whole episode of Grey’s Anatomy it’s perfectly okay). Then, when I’m ready to remove - usually because I want to go to bed - I take my favorite occlusive, OTT cream, Eucerin Healing Cream, and tap it over my undereye area, mainly the outer corners where things can get a bit flaky. I also put Eucerin around my nose and mouth (I call it the goatee area. I dont’ have a goatee but it’s the perfect descriptor) where I tend to get dry and flaky.

When you’re done with your Dieux Eye Masks you just wash them with gentle soap (I’ve used hand soap and Clinique Take the Day off Cleansing Balm - which is also perfect for washing makeup sponges) and either pat dry with a towel, or, if you’re like me and want to get into bed ASAP, just set them in the included tin to air dry.

As of today, as I’m typing, the Dieux Forever Eye Masks are sold out, but you can sign up to get an email when they’re back in stock. Apparently, these things are super popular! I really don’t know how I didn’t see them everywhere, and only started noticing their popularity once I had placed an order myself. Especially because I already followed Dieux founder and CEO Charlotte Palermino on TikTok. It was only after I ordered the Dieux masks, then saw her wearing them in a TIkTok, then clicked through to her profile that I realized she invented them. AND that I already followed her (because I liked her videos about non-Forever Eye Mask skincare).

I recently started following her tip for putting moisturizer on your lips before applying Vaseline (I use Aquaphor) and I saw results overnight. (She’s wearing the eye masks in this video. I mean really, how did I not see them before?? **shakes fist at heavens** Baader-Meinhoooooffff!)
