Put Off Hair Washing Another Day With This Post-Workout Spray

My hair washing routine is completely built around what workout I’ve done and how sweaty I’ve gotten. Since starting to take spin classes, where I get absolutely, impossibly sweaty, those are the days that I wash my hair. (This system has completely collapsed in the past month, TBH.) Since I still work out and get sweaty on non-spin days, I needed some kind of solution. Dry shampoo can be fickle, and doesn’t really work on sweaty hair. Sidenote: The best time to use dry shampoo? Right after you wash your hair. Counterintuitive but TRUE. I needed something that wasn’t traditional dry shampoo but that would sort of mask my post-workout hair until I made it to a wash day. Lucky for me, Bumble and Bumble was working on just that dream product, and in fact created a whole like of post-workout hair products.

The Pret-a-Powder line includes three products (kind of four): A dry shampoo mist, a powder, and a traditional dry shampoo aerosol that comes in both regular and nourishing formulas. I find the name Pret-a-Powder frustrating and confusing - are you supposed to be pronouncing it pret a pow-day? Because it seems like this whole thing is built on mispronunciation. I don’t like it! But I do like the Post Workout Dry Shampoo Mist.

This is a dry shampoo and not a dry shampoo. On my hair, applying dry shampoo to sweaty strands will just make more of a mess. This mist is already liquid, so applying to damp hair isn’t going to create a paper mache (If I get snotty about pret-a-porter should I say papier-mâché??) fiasco like an aerosol dry shampoo would. It works as it dries, to soak up the nastiness and give a little perfume scent to your limp locks. The scent can get overpowering if you apply too liberally, so start small. Also, this product will not take your hair from post-workout to perfectly coiffed. It will buy you another day of not washing your hair, despite getting super sweaty. I see this as an alternative to wearing a baseball cap when I go out (my other solution to gross hair). If you just want to wear your hair in a ponytail and not feel like a grubby mess, this is a great solution to get your to you next hair wash.
