Wear, Watch, Want #153: The Addictive, Balmy Buttondown Edtion

Wear: The Classic Cate Buttondown by Pilcro and the Letterpress

Shopping is weird now, so when I saw this chambray buttondown (the blue is gone, but here it is in white and khaki) on the sale rack at Anthropologie, I couldn’t try it on, I just needed to buy it, take it home, and try it there (then potentially go back to Anthro and return it). I sort of eyealled it and thought, “Eh, seems worth a shot!” and wouldn’t you know I wear it now almost every day. It’s the perfect thing to throw on over leggings and a tank top, which is what I wear every single day. I tend to wear it open, like a slightly oversized cardigan. I’ll admit too, that I also bought this shirt because it reminded me of an outfit Chessy wears in Nancy Meyers’ The Parent Trap, and I was exactly right.

Watch: TikTok

There are so many things I keep meaning to watch, and then it’s evening and I’m tired and I end up staring at TikTok on my phone for far too long. Did you know if you watch TikTok for an embarrassingly long time, a video comes up with a teen boy saying something like, “Look, we’re all having fun here, but you’ve taken things too far. Aren’t you over 30? Yeesh.” That’s not what he says, but that’s how it FEELS. And I’ve seen this video come up multiple times! And each time I’m like, “Okay. I need to just delete this app before it steals all my information as well as my soul.” But. BUT. The TikTok algorithm is very good. They have to be combing through literally every bit of info about me that’s out there, because the videos I get are catered precisely to my interests. There is not a ton of info about me on the internet - by my own design - which makes TikTok seem even more sinister. I have to STOP.

Want: Tarte Sea Quench Lip Rescue Balm

I bought one of those Sephora Favorites sets with a bunch of small (and I believe one or two full size) lip balms so I could try a bunch of different products. A few were real standouts, including this Tarte Sea Quench Lip Rescue Balm in Rose. it is a perfect my lips but better shade for me, and it’s very moisturizing and comfortable to wear. I would have gone and bought it in multiples by now, but the packaging sucks. It’s cardboard. That makeup-y cardboard that’s slightly sturdy but cannot hold up to being tossed in a bag, potentially next to a sweaty water bottle, then dropped on the floor, then back in the bag and crushed under something heavy that is probably the source of your shoulder pain, so take it out of your bag already. I do not want to spend $20 on a high end beauty product that’s packaged in CARDBOARD. And before you try to say that this makes it recyclable, it doesn’t. There’s still metal in the actual tube that holds the balm, PLUS it’s too small to recycle anyway. It’s just bad all over. I mean, not the balm. The balm is (unfortunately) amazing.
