This Push-Pop Measuring Cup is Absolutely Ingenious

It’s only in the past few years that I became aware of the Pampered Chef Measure All measuring cup. It’s basically just a tube, but it can measure both wet and dry ingredients, and the push-pop like mechanism means you can measure sticky, unruly ingredients perfectly AND without getting your hands messy. It’s an ingenious tool that, from my understanding, gained popularity because it was the cheapest thing in the Pampered Chef catalog. Pampered Chef is among the original network marketing companies. You’d get invited over to Kathy’s house, she’d try to sell you on some shit from her MLM, and to be nice you’d buy the cheapest thing she offered. Then, all these well meaning (but not well meaning enough to tell their friends they were in a pyramid scheme) folks used the Measure All and realized, “This thing is actually GREAT??!”

Now that this product, originally just a means to an end, was beloved by millions of home cooks, other companies started making their own versions of the Measure All. Which is great for me, a person who would not like to participate in blatantly predatory business practices, and also has a 20% off coupon at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

I bought myself the OXO Good Grips Adjustable 2 Cup Measuring Cup, and it was immediately indispensable for me. HOW was I living before?? I make these breakfast balls regularly, and they require a cup (or more) of peanut butter. It wasn’t terribly inconvenient to pour peanut butter into a measuring cup, then scrape that cup into the food processor, but with the measuring tube? IT’S SO EASY.

The OXO tube actually rotates along a path, which I think is part of why you really do get every little bit of peanut butter (or whatever) out of the tube. Just a quick scrape of the top once you’re done, and virtually ALL of the ingredient in in the mix, AND your hands are perfectly clean. Sidenote: I bought these plastic spreaders at Home Goods on a whim (“$3? Sure!” - Me at Home Goods buying who knows what) and they are now a vital part of my life. I scratched up so many things with metal tools. NEVER AGAIN!

I was worried that once I had the tube raised, and something in it, it would be unstable and I’d need to get the tube over the bowl immediately, lest I end up with peanut butter all over my kitchen. Not so. The tube is easy to turn, but not easy to accidentally turn. I carried this peanut butter filled tube around my kitchen, taking photos for this post. Not a drop of peanut butter was lost in the process.

Did I mention the two pieces come apart super easily, and both can go in the dishwasher?! I MEAN. The OXO Adjustable Measuring Cup is now one of my must have kitchen gadgets. She’s a miracle.
