Wear, Watch, Want #188: The Made Up Norwegian Underwear Edition

Wear: Amazon Underoos

My pajamas are a pair of high waisted briefs and a tank top. I wear “pajamas” on top of that for pre-bed TV watching and whatever, but if I’m asleep in my bed? It’s briefs and a tank. My favorite unders are the Wacoal B-Fitting Briefs, which I would buy every year during Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale. They come in one size, they’re light and stretchy and high waisted - they’re perfect. And now they’re discontinued. I have been hunting for some nice briefs for at least two years - my Wacoal stash isn’t going to last forever - and I finally found a pair that were perfect. AND THEY ARE ALSO VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND IN MY SIZE. I should mention I am PICKY about underwear (as we all should be, really). I am apparently the only person on the earth who doesn’t want super spandex-y briefs. I want a high waist, full butt coverage, and a decent cotton content. I ordered these briefs from Amazon, from a brand I’d never heard of, with odd listing details and photos, but a TON of positive reviews, and wouldn’t you know it, they’re my new favorites. I was apprehensive at first, because the fabric felt thick, and they are enormous. But once they’re ON, the fabric is perfect, the fit is perfect, and they’re SO comfortable. I wish I had these when I was recovering from abdominal surgeries - the waist is high and feels supportive without being restricting. They’re also some of the first underwear that actually stays in place on my body. No adjusting, picking, or finessing needed - even after wearing them through a whole night of tossing and turning. The size chart is accurate too - my hip and waist measurements didn’t match up to the same size (story of my life), so I went with the hip measurement, and it’s perfect.

Watch: Bloodride

Are you missing Black Mirror? Weren’t there supposed to be more episodes coming… years ago? If you’re feeling a hole in your heart that can only be filled by a trippy anthology series with decently high production values, I recommend Bloodride. The title (and the cover image) are misleading - this horror anthology series has much more in common with Black Mirror than say, Tales from the Crypt. And each episode of this about 30 minutes long. There’s no filler, no fluff, no chance to take a decent idea and ruin it because you have to fill time. Bloodride is a Norwegian show, so if you don’t speak Norwegian you’ll have to read subtitles or play the dubbed version. It is a horror series, but it’s not gory or gratuitous. Think more suspense than horror. Bloodride is 6, 30ish minute episodes, and it’s on Netflix - a limited time commitment on an easy to access streamer, and it’s good! Give it a shot.

Want: New Makeup

I have worn so little makeup in the past year. I don’t really go anywhere, and if I do, the majority of my face is covered by a mask anyway, so why bother with makeup? I do Zoom meetings, but the video quality isn’t good enough that I feel like I need to do any gussying up, and I have 100% gone to “meetings” in my pajamas with acne patches on. But I love makeup! And I love trying new things and experimenting with makeup! There have been product releases that I’ve seen and thought, “Oooh! I want that!” and then I remember that I have worn concealer maybe 6 times in the past year. I really want to try Lash Idôle Lash-Lifting & Volumizing Mascara, but I wear mascara so infrequently that I’d worry the tube would dry out before I actually used it all (I’m probably going to get the mini one). And have you seen the new Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint?? It looks great! I want to try it! But will I actually USE it? Unknown!
