Wear, Watch, Want #213: The Planned Flat Binge Watch Edition

Wear: Hunter Short Play Boots

We had an earlier and colder than usual snow here in Seattle, and I don’t know if it’s because this usually happens in January/February, or because this is a lot of new residents’ first snow in Seattle, but people are losing their damn minds. The number of ignorant and oddly furious takes I have read online is baffling. We need this snow to vacate, not only because it shuts the city down, but because I can’t stand hearing more people complain about how it shuts the city down.

My point is, it’s been cold and snowy and I’ve been wearing these Hunter Boots every time I go outside. I have these Crocs boots, which were my go-to snow boots, and I have a pair of taller classic Hunter rain boots, but I don’t like the heel. It’s so obnoxious and it’s hard for find snow/rain boots without it. That’s why then I saw these Hunter boots with FLAT soles, I scooped them up. They retail for $98, but I got mine at Costco, and I think they cost around $60? They’re perfect to wear with a big pair of socks, and they’re easy to slip on and off. Plus, I’ve gotten lots of compliments on them, and I get the added thrill of saying, “They’re from Costco!”

Watch: Yellowjackets (Again), and More

I got a Showtime subscription (I actually qualified for the free trial since before I had Showtime through Amazon, and now I’m Sho-Only), and I binged all the episodes of Yellowjackets in a day and a half. To say Yellowjackets is extremely my shit is an understatement. I’ve been reading recaps, I’ve been reading Reddit (Adam is Javi, I can see it. Callie is the woods baby? It’s been 25 years and they were there 19 months. I can barely do math and I know that’s a foolish theory). I am IN on this show. I may have to actually pay for a month of Showtime so I can re-watch all the episodes once the season ends.

I’ve also been catching up on reading. Books? No! My brain balks at the idea of reading anything with a length measured in pages! I’ve been catching up on Anne Helen Petersen’s fabulous newsletter, Culture Study. I have a free subscription, but now that I’ve been binging the past few months of newsletters I’m considering going paid. If I like it so much, you may ask, why didn’t I read all those emails over the past few months? Well, I like it so much, I see the email and say, “I’m going to save that for when I can really enjoy it” and then I just do that over and over again for 5 months until I’m wondering WHAT all those unread emails are and realizing I set this trap for myself.

I’ve also been watching a lot of iPad planner TikToks, which leads me to…

Want: Apple Pencil

I am looking into upgrading my devices. I’ve been using my iPad more and more, and I’m starting to use it as a paperless planner (The Goodnotes community is overwhelming and inspirational). But I don’t have a stylus. I’ve ordered this cheap(ish) one to see if I’m a stylus kind of gal, but my plan, if this experiment works, is to get a nicer iPad and an Apple Pencil. Then I’ll be unstoppable.
