Wear, Watch, Want #215: The Hanging Magical Snood Edition

Wear: Snood/Cowl Scarf

Winter in the Pacific Northwest is a whole different type of winter, particularly if you’ve lived in places with “real” winter. It’s cold, but not that cold. It will probably snow… once or twice. But mostly it’s rainy and windy and dark. You have to get your winter-wear juuuust right, becasue it’s cold, but not so cold that you need two scarves and earmuffs plus a hat. For me, that means a cowl or a snood if preferable to a scarf. A scarf is just too HOT after a while. I have a fantastic cowl scarf I got from Target years ago, and now of course i can’t find it or link to it. The thing that sets this cowl apart is that it’s long and hourglass shaped. It drapes over your shoulders and gives you enough coverage that you can leave your jacket a little unzipped, without sacrificing warmth or looking like a weirdo with a fabric tube just around your neck. It’s also rigid enough that it stands upright, so you can tuck your chin into it for added wind protection. Here’s a photo of me wearing it:

The closest thing to what I have that I could find was this cowl from Lululemon, which looks (understandably) better quality than my Target one, and stands up around your neck nicely. Target has this snood, but it has slits at the shoulders instead of the hourglass shape mine has. It still looks nice and long, and you do get that chest coverage many cowls don’t offer.

Watch: Encanto

Would I have watched Encanto if I hadn’t spend the last month or so inundated with Encanto content on TikTok? Probably not. But I got to the point where I was going about my life singing songs from Encanto despite not having seen Encanto, so I decided I should actually watch it. And of course I loved it. The two best songs are the ones I kept seeing on TikTok (We Don’t Talk About Bruno and Surface Pressure), but nothing was bad. I don’t know if Disney still makes animated series based on their movies, but I’d love on for Encanto, mainly because I want to see more of the other family members. Encanto did NOT have enough Dolores or Luisa for me, in particular, but I’d love to see stories of the other family members too! I want a whole episode about Pepa and Félix’s wedding! And what do the other rooms look like?? WHAT does Dolores’s room look like?!

Want: Coat Rack

I have a spot next to my front door that would be perfect for a low-profile, swivel coat rack. Like this one. I was all set to BUY that one, but the reviews said it was bad, so I started looking for something similar that was better quality. I can’t find ANYTHING. I assumed this was a popular design and was only at Target becasue it was a knockoff of something else, but I guess not. So I ordered the Target (allegedly) bad quality one. I’ll see how it turns out.
