Wear, Watch, Want #233: The Dipped, Thriving Sweatshirt Edition

Wear: Aerie Cropped Sweatshirt

Aerie, to me, is like Anthropologie. They make a lot of stuff I love… and a lot of stuff that is very strategically styled because WHOMST do these oversized tissue tees look good on??? Every Aerie order is a crapshoot, and I’ve learned that you need to read a lot of reviews and order many sizes and you’ll end up with maybe one item out of five, but that one item is fantastic. Sidenote: There is an Aerie store near me but 1) All the stuff I like is online only and 2) The store has the vibe of a beach-themed Limited Too and I feel deeply uncomfortable there. This is all to say: I bought this cropped mock neck sweatshirt and I am obsessed. It’s cropped but not too cropped. It’s oversized but not too oversized (I could probably size down, tbh). It’s soft and cozy and I miss it when it’s in the laundry. I may need to buy another one.

(Not) Watch: Love Island

Love Island is back, baby! And I am not watching. It took me awhile to figure out why I have zero interest in Love Island this summer, but once I did it was kind of a nice story. So, first of all, I do not believe Love Island can top season 5 and they should give up while they’re ahead (the show should also not exist for other, darker reasons, but I’m trying to keep it light-ish). Last summer I was a dedicated Love Island viewer, and I watched every day, usually right when the episode was posted online (I was refreshing the ITV site over and over till it popped up). And the season sucked! I immediately forgot who won and then every time I’d remember I’d be like, “Of course. Because it sucked!”

But I was having a bad, bad summer. Love Island was my respite, a chance to turn off my brain and ignore my life for an hour each day. This summer, I’m happy, busy, and I have no need for a reality show to distract me from every crappy thing being thrown at me. I didn’t watch anything new this week — I was too busy with my nice life! — but I did have a Love Island revelation, so that’s something!

Want: Dipped Almonds

Someone left a bag of these Skinnydipped almonds at my house after book club and bless them, because I am now addicted. (They’re called Skinnydipped because it’s a thin layer of chocolate, not because they’re explicitly marketed as diet food! I don’t like it but I don’t hate it) I put them on ice cream, it’s fantastic. But the bag is pretty small (and some had been eaten at book club) so I went through the bag pretty quick. I needed MORE. Target’s Favorite Day has their own version of skinnydipped almonds, so I also got a bag of those to try (they’re good!) and THEN I saw these honey lavender almonds. Target, if you’re reading this, I need these almonds to come in a Costco-sized tub. They are so, SO good, and a perfect little summer afternoon snack. I don’t want to buy 3 bags at $5 per bag the next time I’m at Target, but I’m going to!
