Bioderma: Worth The Hype, Money, and a Trip to Paris

Two years ago my mom went to Paris and because she is a literal angel she let me give her a list of beauty products I wanted her to bring back for me. One of those products? Bioderma Sensibio H2O. Most readers of this site are in the US, but for those fair few of you reading this in Europe: Bioderma isn't easy to come by in the states. It's not sold in drugstores or even many specialty beauty stores. Nope, we American schlubs have to root around for our Bioderma like scavengers! Well, that's not entirely true, but I'll get to that later. Two years ago, though, the easiest way to get myself a bottle of Bioderma Sensibio H2O was to ask someone going to Paris to bring me back some.

Like just about every beauty product with a cult following, Bioderma Sensibio H2O lives up to every single bit of hype. It was my first introduction to micellar water, and I'm completely sold. It makes sense that someone so devoted to oil cleansers would love micellar water, since they're closely related. Micellar water is made up of itty bitty balls of cleansing oil molecules suspended in soft water. You put it on a soft cotton pad and swipe it over the skin. It's much gentler on the skin than a toner or a cleanser, but still takes of every stitch of makeup and thoroughly cleanses the face. I shower at night, and usually remove my makeup beforehand with an oil cleanser or balm, but in the morning when I don't feel like washing my face, or when I'm having a flare up and just don't want to bother, Bioderma is my savior.

I recently ran out of the 250ml bottle my mom brought back from Paris. It lasted two years, which I think is pretty impressive, but then again I don't use it every night to take off eye makeup or anything like that (going through cotton pads that often makes me uncomfortable, especially when there are products like oil cleansers that work just as well and don't produce extra waste. I make poor choices in other areas, so I try to find balance where I can). "Ruh roh." I thought. "How am I going to get more Bioderma?! Am I going to have to buy it from some shady site, or even worse, some niche beauty site that will charge me $10 for shipping?!" Luckily, no. They sell Bioderma on Amazon. I bought a 500ml bottle (I'm set for like 5 years now!) for $16 with 2-day prime shipping. But now I have to come up with another excuse to go to Paris.
