Wear, Watch, Want #47: The Aging Gracefully Edition

Wear: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreens

I'm very diligent about sunscreen. If you read this post about Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47, you'll know that I consider the sun my number one enemy in my quest to age gracefully. I apply the Josie Maran sunscreen to my face every day, but I also remember to apply sunscreen to the rest of my body too, particularly my décolletage and the tops of my feet, which are always, no matter how hard I try, getting zapped by the sun's evil rays. I have a particularly gnarly Birkenstock tan on my feet right now that is just... I mean... it could definitely win me free Lilith Fair tickets in some sort of radio station contest, if that were a thing that existed. My feet are literally a walking stereotype. I'm remembering now every morning to slather sunscreen on my feet, but it's doing nothing to mitigate the mortifying damage I've already done, which will probably fade by oh, October. Anyway, my favorite sunscreens are Neutrogena's Ultra Sheer line. I love the Ultra Sheer Liquid for the face (as mentioned in the post, I only switched to Josie Maran because I needed a moisturizer as well, but usually I'm a Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid gal) and the Ultra Sheer Dry Touch for the rest of my body (go for the two-pack. Its' a great deal).

Watch: Grace and Frankie

The third season of Grace and Frankie came out a few weeks ago and  it was just as delightful as the preceding two. If you haven't been watching Grace and Frankie for the past two years, don't fret - it's on Netflix and is super easy to catch up on. Just this Christmas my dad and grandma started watching together and both loved it. My dad especially couldn't stop talking about how wonderful he thought it was. He started watching the show at my grandma's house, and later when he and my mom were down at my house for the remainder of the holiday he said, "Sarah, can you set up 'Gracie-Frankie' on your TV here?" Despite being a show my dad loves and loves to talk about, he doesn't know that it's not called "Gracie-Frankie." He's a real Classic Dad.

For the uninitiated, Grace and Frankie stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as the titular characters who are polar opposites. The two women have been in each other's lives for decades because their husbands, Robert and Sol, are partners in a law firm. When the couples are in their 70s the husbands reveal that they have been having an extramarital affair with each other for 20 years and are leaving their wives to be with each other out in the open. Grace and Frankie, both completely blindsided, move in together into the beach house in La Jolla that the two families bought together as a vacation property. The two women who were always at odds with one another bond over their shared experience, and eventually become best friends. In fact, season three is, at its core, all about how Grace and Frankie are soulmates and how their friendship is really the most important relationship to them both at this time in their lives.

Grace and Frankie is heartwarming, funny, and I mean, three generations of my family love it, so that has to be a pretty damn good endorsement. Also worth mentioning: Jane Fonda is turning 80 this year. Eighty. I think about that during just about every episode.

Want: Dansko Vera Sandals

Let's just bring this old lady themed Wear, Watch, Want to a close, shall we? I love a clog. This has been established. I have a closet filled with a fair few Danskos, and the next pair I have my sights set on are these Veras. They come in this lovely purple, and a red, and even a metallic that might be cute or might be a little too Tog Shop (some things are hard to tell online, you know how that is). I think I'm leaning toward purple, but maybe black if I decide that my beloved black Larissa clogs are getting a little too worn out and I have to admit defeat and replace them. (Dear Dansko: Please just bring back the Larissa. They are perfect and I can commit now to buying multiple pairs.)
