Wear, Watch, Want #69: The Short Canadian Flashback Edition

Wear: Pilcro Denim Shorts

I am not generally a shorts wearer. Mostly because finding the right pair of shorts is so difficult it's virtually impossible. Take jeans shopping and multiply it by shade matching drugstore foundation and THAT is shopping for shorts. I tend to wear dresses when I want a warm weather, leg-bearing option, because they're so much easier to buy, but I was reaching the point where I could really use a pair of shorts, dammit. Anthropologie was having a 40% off sale event, and I found a pair of shorts that were about two or three sizes too big for me. "Excellent!" I thought, "That means they'll fit my thighs!" Shorts logic, as we all know, is not logical by any definition. I took them into the dressing room and they were large to the point where I could probably take them off without undoing the button or zipper - but they fit my thighs and butt pretty perfectly. And I was visiting my mom, who is an absolute wizard with a sewing machine (she used to make her own JEANS.) She assured me she could put darts in the waist, and she whipped them into shape for me before I left. Now I'm back home, the Pacific Northwest is in a heat wave, and I'm wearing these shorts like, three days a week. I get upset when they're in the wash. They're PERFECT.

The exact shorts aren't available online at Anthro anymore, but they look very similar to these ones, also from Pilcro, that are unfortunately full price. I love that they're a bit longer. Mine have finished hems, but more distressing throughout.

Watch: Schitt's Creek

I watched the first three seasons of Schitt's Creek awhile ago, after watching one episode LONG ago and thinking, "eh, maybe not?" and forgetting about it for a year. So many people I knew raved about it that I sat down and gave it more than a one episode try, and I fell in love. I burned through the three seasons that were available on Amazon, then on Netflix, in record time. But I don't have cable and couldn't legally watch season 4. BUT, after a bitter breakup with Hulu TV last year, I've come back (when I left the service I told them that I'd probably come back when they fixed at least a few of their MYRIAD issues, and I did), and now I have TV again. It didn't take long for me to binge Schitt's Creek season 4, and OH MY GOD if it isn't one of my favorite seasons of TV ever. The amount of times I realized I had a goofy, sappy grin on my face - hoo boy. Patrick and David are possibly the greatest couple on TV, and I absolutely love the evolution of Alexis over not just the series, but particularly the season.

If you haven't given Schitt's Creek a watch, I highly recommend you check it out. If you're waiting for season 4 to be available to stream, get ready, because it's THE BEST.

Want: Overalls

I went through a phase where I only wore overalls. It lasted two years. I had casual overalls and dressier overalls. A typical outfit for me was denim overalls with a tee shirt, and then I'd put a couple pins on the bib of the overalls, a flannel shirt on top, and floral hightops. I was heavily influenced by Clarissa Darling and Claudia Kishi and I regret nothing. Anyway, 20 years have passed since my epic overalls-only phase and I am hearing their siren song again. I don't want to wear only overalls, but I really, really want a pair. I've been thinking about them A LOT. So much so, in fact, that last night I bought these. I'll update if they work out.
