Wear: Hoka One One Clifton 6 Running Shoe
I was wearing a pair of Teva shoes that I got at Nordstrom Rack and my feet felt terrible. I was complaining about it to my mom while she was here visiting and she said, “Get new shoes! Today!” So I began a hunt for better shoes. I do a lot of walking, and I have problematic joints, so I needed some serious sneakers. When I tried on these Hoka One One Clifton 6 Running Shoes I could NOT believe it. They are like walking on the most expensive tiny mattresses for your feet. You see that big ass platrom? Imagine that’s all cushioning and carefully engineered support. When I destroy these, I’m immediately buying another pair. I’m in love.
Watch: Portrait of a Lady on Fire
I first saw a trailer for Portrait of a Lady on Fire before Parasite, and I was immediately like, “Yes. Uh huh. I will be seeing that” and then it became nearly impossible to see this movie. I kept checking for showtimes and NOTHING, until finally it showed up. Not only for just one day, but for one TIME on one day. And I already had plans! Then it showed up again, but for more inconvenient times, before disappearing. When I saw that it was showing and I could make it, I put it in my calendar as an immovable plan and I went and it was incredible.
I want to see it again, but of course it’s gone from theaters near me, possibly forever. I wanted to see it again immediately after the credits started. I loved everything about Portrait of a Lady on Fire. Also, I would love to own the titular painting, and am actively looking for a print.
You know I rejoice in the female gaze, and Portrait of a Lady on Fire is ALL about it. HEAVEN. And the fact that all the class divides are essentially erased while these three women have a mini-adventure in a weird old castle in Brittany? LOVED IT. I can’t even use words to explain how lush and perfect the cinematography is, so please read this. And this interview, which I read an immediately wanted to see the movie again. And that last scene! Want: Hand Sanitizer
I live in COVID-19 central, and it is impossible to get any hand sanitizer, antibacterial wipes, and basic cleaning supplies. I already wash my hands a lot, so I’m just working on washing them for a longer period of time, but I love a good hand sanitizer for on the go. I’m in ever so slightly worried that this situation won’t improve by the time I need to restock. I’ve long considered buying a massive bottle of hand sanitizer so I can just refill my tiny bottles instead of purchasing new ones, and now who knows how long I will have to wait to achieve that goal.
