Wear, Watch, Want #176: The Packed, Rainy Animal Edition

Wear: Scotch Flex & Seal Shipping Roll

I had to mail a bulky thing this week. I didn’t want to lug some big thing to the post office, so my plan was to buy a vacuum bag, seal it up and make it as small as possible, then put my vacuum bag into one of those big brown mailer envelopes. It was while I was walking through Target collecting all the things I needed for this elaborate plan that I came across the Scotch Flex & Seal Shipping Roll. It’s sticky on one side - but only when it touches another piece of the sticky side - and you simply place your item in the middle of the roll, cut to whatever shape you need, then press the two gray sticky parts together. This creates a super sturdy, waterproof seal that will protect whatever you’re mailing. I don’t know if this product is new, or just new to me, but it’s a game changer.

Watch: All Creatures Great and Small

I read all of James Herriot’s books when I was a kid. I loved them. The adventures of a vet in the English countryside? What could be better to a ten year old! That’s why, when I saw that there was a new All Creatures series on PBS, I was pumped. As of the time I’m writing this, there’s only one episode available on PBS (the show already aired last fall in the UK), but I’m in. I’m ready. Let’s deliver some calves and heal some goats and all that. One funny thing I realized while watching All Creatures, was that I didn’t remember anything happening on screen. Then I started thinking harder, and I realized I remember nothing from these books, apart from the fact that I read them all and loved them. Well, I guess the series will just be a fun surprise.

Want: Rain Rebel Raincoat

I wrote just last week about how I was shopping for a good raincoat. I ended up buying one, then returning it, then finding a perfect one at my problematic fave athletic wear store, Lululemon. I didn’t even go in looking for a raincoat! But once I tried on the Rain Rebel Jacket I realized someone HAD made the raincoat I was dreaming of. I had to order it online, because this jacket is sold out ALL OVER (a great sign of a good product, imo), but I have high hopes this one is going to be THE one.

Edited to add: It arrived today and it IS just what I was looking for. WHEW.
