Gift Guide 2022: Dogs!

I had a very dog-filled 2022, both because I was always around dogs, but also because I bought a LOT of stuff for dogs. These are some of my favorite dog products.

Click on each item above to be taken directly to the store to purchase, or read on for some of my reasonings behind each item. As with all the other gift guides, we’re going clockwise/spiral ish from the bottom left.

  • I’ve written before about the Enhanced Pet Bowl and how it really is the perfect bowl for brachycephalic dogs. It also costs more than I think the average person should ever spend on a dog bowl, which makes it a perfect gift.

  • If your dog isn’t challenged enough by the Snoop (more on that here), try a Tricky Treat Ball. Mine still has one piece of lamb lung trapped in it, and Gus will periodically be determined to get that one piece out, fail, forget, then the cycle starts again.

  • I already have one of these pet memorial stones for Hero, and one is arriving any day for Ruby. They are simple, beautiful, and a great way to remember your beloved pet. I’d recommend them to anyone who doesn’t want something flashy or treacly, but still wants a memorial of some kind.

  • The Mudbuster, reviewed here, is one of those things you think you don’t need, until you use it. This truly does get off every last bit of mud from your dog’s paws - far better than a wet washcloth or a baby wipe.

  • So many dog coats claim to be the best, but based on my experience, the Land’s End Squall Jacket is the only one that really IS. It’s fleece lined, waterproof, and fits like a dream. It’s easy to get on and off even the most stubborn dog, and it’s frequently on sale (I got mine for $10). And you can get it embroidered!
