Wear, Watch, Want #226: The Tiny Flying Overalls Edition

Wear: Universal Thread Overalls

I have tried on myriad denim overalls over the past few years, and none are what I want. For me, overalls need to be a little baggy, a little slouchy. The waist need to be high — the sides go up to your natural waist, and the bib and back straps branch out from there. None of this low-backed overall nonsense. There is no “works for everyone” article of clothing, but for me, these overalls from Target are exactly what I’m looking for.

Watch: The Great Big Tiny Design Challenge

When I found out Channel 4 was producing a Bake-Off Style show, but for miniatures, I was immediately in love. HBO Max has been getting a lot of Channel 4 content, but multiple Googles later and I still didn’t know if Big Tiny (that’s what I call it) will be streaming stateside. Good thing I have my trusty VPN.

Each week the group of miniaturists completes an individual timed challenge. The two winners of that challenge become team leaders, and each team is tasked with making the same room in a dollhouse, based on a prompt (ie, Regency dining room in the first episode, art deco bathroom in the second). The winning team’s room gets put in the actual show dollhouse. There’s a whole gimmick where host Sandy Toksvig gets “shrunk down” and walks around the rooms (she’s short, you see) that I would be fine with axing from any future seasons, but other than that I’m absolutely delighted by the whole show. Hopefully The Great Big Tiny Design Challenge makes it to HBO Max soon.

Want: Dog Travel Carrier

When this post is live, it’ll be one week until I pick up my puppy! The past month has been filed with research and planning and stressing about taking a puppy on a cross country flight. I keep telling myself It’ll be fine, and if it’s not, it won’t last long. I’ve never taken a dog on a plane before (Hero was too big to fly in-cabin), but this Sherpa carrier is widely considered to be the best. They also have this program where if the bag is deemed the wrong size and not allowed to fly, the company will reimburse you not only for you pet’s ticket, bit your ticket as well. I need all the peace of mind I can get, so this program appeals to me in a BIG way. (Edited to add: Alaska only approves ONE of the Sherpa carriers and you have to have a lot of info — that I don’t have, because he’s not my dog YET — about your dog to apply for the program. It’s still a nice bag though.)
