Wear, Watch, Want #239: The Clipped Alien Doctor Edition

Wear: Hair Clips

I recently got some little wispy side pieces cut in my hair, in hopes of making me look less like a big ol’ moon face when I have my hair up. It’s great, I like it a lot, but I did not anticipate showering with these little side pieces hanging around my face. I wore headbands, but for some reason I didn’t like that, so on a whim I bought these clips at Target. They’re perfect.

Watch: Nope

BIG NEWS THIS WEEK. I went to a movie theater for the first time since February 2020. I was sick of avoiding spoilers for Nope, and I kind of wanted to break the seal on going back to a theater, AND i have a flexible schedule so I went at 11am on a Wednesday. My big theory was that the Steven Yeun and Keke Palmer/Daniel Kaluuya stories took place in two different timelines, because they are never shown together in the trailers. I was wrong! You got me, Peele! I liked Nope, but it was slow, and I like when there are clues and hints and I can try to figure out a movie’s mysteries as I watch them unfold. A slow movie that doesn’t even drop little breadcrumbs would normally get a meh reaction from me, but Nope is gorgeous, Keke Palmer is the most charismatic person on film, and I liked that (spoiler alert) a big plot point of the film was alien defecation.

Want: Healthcare

So have healthcare, and it’s even good, but oh my GOD is it a pain in the ass to get medical care in America, even with good insurance. I started this week seeing my rheumatologist, who is incredible, and it was one of the most affirming, helpful doctors appointments I’ve had in a long time. THEN I ended the week with a whole bunch of bullshit trying to see a different specialist, and I ended up crying because it was just SO unnecessarily complicated.
