Wear, Watch, Want #242: The High Temperature Artifice Edition

Wear: AE Dream Super High-Waisted Jegging

Look, I’m not a trendy dresser, so please don’t think I care that low rise flares are coming around again. I like skinny jeans with a waistband up to my armpits, and the Dream Super High-Waisted Jeggings from American Eagle and PERFECT. The only thing that’s bad about them is that they’re out of my size in both the blue and the black. I want at least two more pairs. American Eagle, please restock these truly dream jeans.

Watch: The Rehearsal

I found Nathan For You a difficult watch. I watched it, but I needed more than a week of downtime between episodes. It made me itchy. The Rehearsal, however, I think is perfect. I could absolutely binge watch every episode and be completely unbothered. And that’s the point, really. Everyone on The Rehearsal knew, at least in part, what they were getting into and how it would work. Nathan For You targeted people who never really seemed to know what was going on, which felt exploitative, at least to me. The Rehearsal is about being fake and about being genuine and how we’re all trying to do the right thing and make the right decisions and that that’s actually impossible. I don’t know if I could explain the intelligence and allure of The Rehearsal to someone who knew nothing about it, but I know i loved it and I’m excited for season 2.

Want; Outdoor Thermometer

I’ve taken to calling my backyard The Enchanted Forest. I actually didn’t come up with that, it was a neighbor who for years only knew my yard as the densely tree covered area she saw from her balcony. But my backyard is a magical, enchanted place. It is consistently 10 degrees cooler back there than the rest of the city, and recently when Seattle was covered in wildfire smoke, my backyard was, quite simply, pleasant. Anyway, there are days when I’ve only been outside in my backyard, and I have no idea what the temperature really is, so I dress inappropriately and end up uncomfortable once I’m out in the real world. I want a thermometer I can mount outside my kitchen window so I can see what the temp is back there, compared to what the weather app says the temp is. Also, I want to be able to prove that my backyard is significantly cooler than the city at large.
